During the summer of 2021, after receiving news of the possibility of cancer recurrence in someone close to them, the four co-founders of ODFAL decided to take action to counter their feeling of helplessness in the face of this disease. To do so, they initially organized a 150km cycling challenge with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. Subsequently, the more they immersed themselves in the world of oncology, the more they realized the extent of the lack of support offered outside of big cities for people directly or indirectly affected by cancer.
With the help of professionals in the field and people who have experienced the disease, four official services - the cancer information platform, community actions, referral to regional services and sporting events - have been set up to enable the population to have an impact on the outcome in the fight against cancer.
To date, the Organization Du Fjord au Lac is constantly evolving to optimize and add services in the Saguenay-Lac St-Jean region.
